In less developed regions of the world, HPV is associated with approximately 490,000 cases of cancer each year. Of these, 93 percent are in the cervix, 2 percent are in the anus, 2 percent are in the penis, 1 percent is in the vulva, 1 percent is in the vagina, and 1 percent is in the oropharynx.
In more developed regions of the world, HPV is associated with approximately 120,000 cases of cancer each year. Of these, 65 percent are in the cervix, 13 percent are in the oropharynx, 10 percent are in the anus, 6 percent are in the vulva, 3 percent are in the vagina, and 3 percent are in the penis.
